When photos first surfaced of Christian Bale getting ready to play Dick Cheney in the award winningVice, people couldn’t believe how much the actor had ballooned in size.
Well, it seems as though Russell Crowe has taken a leaf out of Bale’s weight gaining guide for his next role.
The Loudest Voice In The Roomwill be a television series on Showtime and Crowe is playing the leading man, Roger Ailes, a former TV executive who was once the Chairman and CEO of Fox News.
Crowe certainly had to pile on the pounds in order to portray the Ailes and from the looks of things, he’s done a good job.
According toDeadline, the plot will revolve around how Ailes ‘moulded Fox News into a force that irrevocably changed the conversation about the highest levels of government, will help understand the events that led the rise of Donald Trump’.
That’s sounds like one hell of a show.
It will delve into his sexual harassment accusations and the subsequent settlements as well as how the 77-year-old got into politics and eventually became the Republican party’s de facto leader.
The show will largely be based off the book of the same name by Gabriel Sherman. Questions were raised whether it would go ahead in April 2017 after Ailes died, but Showtime said it was pushing ahead with production.
Russ will be joined by Naomi Watts, who will play Gretchen Carlson, while Sienna Miller (Layer Cake) will take on former NBC news producer Elizabeth “Beth” Ailes.
Seth MacFarlane (Family Guy) will play Brian Lewis, Simon McBurney (The Theory of Everything) will become Rupert Murdoch, and Annabelle Wallis (Peaky Blinders) will portray Laurie Luhn.
There was going to be an actor brought in to play former NBC TV host Megyn Kelly, but she was later cut out of the series.

Book author Gabriel Sherman said at the time: “Megyn Kelly was a peripheral participant in Ailes’ downfall. It was Gretchen Carlson and her lawyer Nancy Erika Smith who drove the events that led to Ailes’ ouster.
“By the time [Kelly] spoke to investigators, Ailes’ fate had been sealed. Any dramatization that makes her a central character in Ailes’ takedown is pure fiction.”
Sounds like this show will be very juicy.
Fox News booker Laurie Luhn got lawyers involved when production started, as she was concerned she would be portrayed in the series as a pimp for Ailes. Months later Luhn’s lawyer launched a defamation suit totalling $750 million.
