So, it’s Super Bowl Sunday. As well as being the showpiece match of the NFL season, the ‘Greatest Show on Earth’ is also a great opportunity for companies to advertise their wares to a gigantic TV audience around the world.

That means that each year a load of hype develops around whatfilmsandTVshows might drop trailers for upcoming releases. This year was no different.

This year, everyone was waiting for trailers forAvengers: EndgameandGame of Thrones;and they got exactly what they wanted. Well, sort of.

The good folks atMarvel held up their side of the bargain, butGame of Thronestook a different approach that is nothing more than a perfectly executed piece of trolling. Let’s give credit where it’s due.

Their offering was a crossover with Bud Light. Yes, Bud Light of ‘Dilly Dilly!’ fame. HBO teamed up with the American beer company to show a mocked-up jousting match between The Mountain and another character called ‘The Bud Knight’.

Oh, and then things got even weirder. I’m talking ‘dragons and fire’ levels of weird.

It looks like ‘Dilly Dilly’ might be no more, after the whole of the Bud Light gang were incinerated by one of Daenerys Targaryen’s dragons. What a damn shame, eh?

The Bud Knight’s watch is ended.

Well, at least it looks that way. As far as we can tell, no-one could have survived such a prolonged and violent firebombing from a dragon.

It might not be exactly what everyone expected, but you’ve got to admit, it’s a funnier and more interesting way to plug both beer and TV. Everyone still loves beer and TV, right?

Thought so.

Well, either way, it’s all we’ve got. After all, they did only just give us a proper teaser the other week.

People online are broadly positive about the new ‘trailer’ too. One person said: “The #GameofThronestrailer was the best commercial so far.”

Another added: “I agree best commercial so far…though i do want to see the entire season of Bud Light/Game of Thrones!”

A third said: “That was a good one. Gotta give it up to theGame of Thronestwist on the Bud Light commercial. That was good.”

On top of getting incinerated by Dany’s dragons, the Bud Knight also got absolutely flattened out by The Mountain.

Hell, is there even a horse that could ride at any speed carrying that guy? He’s an absolute unit.

What we do know, for sure, is that the next series ofGame of Throneswill hit our screens on April 14th– 15thin the UK because of that stupid time difference – and will be the biggest and most shocking season yet.

Obviously, there will be a load of deaths and the like, but we will also see one of the biggest battles in television history, loads of CGI dragon action, and a conclusion that will finally reveal who takes the Iron Throne.

Bring it on.
