Weddings are supposed to be fun affairs – the couple tie the knot and profess their love for one another, while guests get to dress up, drink some free booze, and if they're lucky, enjoy a drunken snog with the best man or bridesmaid.

One bride-to-be however, has been criticised after sending out the save the date cards for her upcoming nuptials which had a lengthy set of demands for her guests to fulfill if they wanted to come to the extravagant event.

First of all, guests will have to save a pile of cash, as the invite states they will need an eye-watering $5,000 just to get to the wedding – which is being held in South East Asia.

Oh, and they also have to take two weeks off work.

The invite was called 'aggressive' by one invitee, who took a picture and shared it on Facebook.

I know it's supposed to be the couple's big day, but this is bit ridiculous.

It read: “The wedding will be held over in an Asian country (Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, ect [sic]). One of the above we haven't decided.

“The flights over range from 10 to 13 hours long, usually costing from $500 to $1,100 (total departure and return flights). Depends on when you book.

“You will need at least two weeks off… one week is too short for how long the flights are.

“Only 2-3 days for the wedding festivities, but the rest of the time is yours to do and go on whatever adventures you like.

“You will need approximately $4,000 to $5,000 or more if you desire.

“That includes hotels, food, drink, daily adventures, scooter rentals. Just good to have a safe buffer of money.

“(you will not spend all of this…) '(all depends on what holiday you want) 'It is very cheap over there, your dollar goes a long way.

“Think all of this over… I know you all will really love it over there.”

She then adds: “If you want to attend start saving your pennies now!”

Yeah, let me just get my piggy bank out.

According to reports, the bride has been – unsurprisingly – slated online for her questionable invite.

One person wrote: “I'd tell her to shove her wedding. That's just rude.”
