By now, you're probably aware of the 'Bird Box Challenge', where idiots – and it is exclusively idiots – film themselves attempting to carry out various tasks while blindfolded, like Sandra Bullock's character in the movie Bird Box; although she was doing it out of necessity and, importantly, was fictional.
Naturally, doing things when you can't see is dangerous, with slips, trips and falls common – even Bullock ran into a camera while filming. However, the ridiculous viral challenge has now gone one step further with a US teen attempting to drive while covering her eyes. I mean, what the fuck is wrong with people?

According to cops in Layton, Utah, a 17-year-old teen veered into oncoming traffic and hit another car after she tried to drive with her eyes covered. Who could have seen that coming, eh?
Lieutenant Travis Lyman told KSL TV: “Apparently, as a part of this Bird Box Challenge, [the driver] used her beanie to pull over her eyes as she was driving on Layton Parkway, and she ended up losing control of her car and skidded into the westbound lanes of Layton Parkway and hit another car and ended up hitting a light pole as well.”
Cops say the teen was driving with a 16-year-old passenger. She initially said she was distracted, talking to her pal – however, after further pressing of both driver and passenger, the truth came out.
In a Facebook post, the Layton police force shared a snap of the trashed car, writing alongside it: “Bird Box Challenge while driving…predictable result.
“This happened on Monday as a result of the driver covering her eyes while driving on Layton Parkway. Luckily no injuries.”
She could be charged with reckless driving, according to KSL TV.
Police – and Netflix – have urged people to not attempt the challenge, with Lieutenant Lyman adding: He added: “Honestly, I'm almost embarrassed to have to say, 'Don't drive with your eyes covered', but you know apparently we do have to say that.

“The stakes are just so high and it's just such a potentially dangerous thing as it is: to try and do it in that way is inexcusable. It really puts everybody at risk.”
Meanwhile, Netflix posted a message on Twitter which read: “Can't believe I have to say this, but: PLEASE DO NOT HURT YOURSELVES WITH THIS BIRD BOX CHALLENGE.
“We don't know how this started, and we appreciate the love, but Boy and Girl have just one wish for 2019 and it is that you not end up in the hospital due to memes.”
