Thriller seriesDirty JohnTVseries is coming toNetflixonValentine’s Day, and not only does it look like a perfectly twisted tale to counteract all the nauseating gushiness of the day, it also looks like a solid follow-up for fans ofrecent hitYou.

If you haven’t heard ofDirty John, it was a true crime podcast phenomenon created by ChristopherGoffard, and depicts the real-life story of couple John Meehan and single mum Debra Newell.

AnaesthetistJohn used his charm to work his way into successful interior designer Debra’s life, thanks to allure and good looks.

Within two months he managed to convince her to marry him in Las Vegas, in what transpired to be a blatant attempt to get his hands on her money.

But, Debra’s daughters, Veronica and Terra, were suspicious of the charming yet angry John and tried to convince their mother that John is no good for her.Sadlytheir attempts created a rift with their beloved mum and allowed John to dig his claws in even deeper.

We won’t go any further than that so not to spoil the story, but what else would you rather sit down and binge with your other half while enjoying a romantic M&S MealForTwo?

The show originally aired on Bravo in the United States and stars Eric Bana as John andNashvillestar Connie Britton as Debra.

June Temple takes on the role as Debra’s daughter, Veronica, while Julie Garner plays Terra.

Executive producer Jeffrey Reiner toldVanity Fair:“It’s all about, ‘Who is John?’… We go back in time [and include] things that were not necessarily in the podcast.”

In the making of the series, Connie revealed she spent a lot of time with the real-life victim, Debra, telling the publication: “We actually spent a good deal of time together. It’s helping to give so much insight into the story in a way that maybe we weren’t able to experience in the podcast.”

Dirty Johnis set to be released on the online streaming giant on 14 February 2019.
