It seems there are very few places exempt from the USA’swintery weather, with Hawaii now seeing a rare snowfall.
The Arctic air from Alaska has travelled south and found itself settlingon thePolipoliSpring state recreation area – this is thought to be the first for any state park.
It appears to be the lowest elevation of snow ever in the state of Hawaii withPolipolisitting at 6,200ft (1,900m) above sea level.
The Metroreported a man named Lance Endo drove for more than an hour in his truck to get a peek at the snow after his friend text him to tell him about it on Sunday.
Lance said: “I just wanted to go play in the snow.”

The weather service said there were snow drifts in the area of Haleakala of around 4ft (1.2m).
Lance even drove back home to pick his two children up to experience the snow.He said he really wanted his kids to ‘see something that’s very unusual in Hawaii’.
Along with a blanket of snow, Hawaii was battered by storm with Honolulu’s National Weather Service reporting 60ft (18-metre) waves north of Kauai and Oahu.
Sam Lemmo, from Hawaii’s Department of Land and Natural Resources, told the Guardian: “We rarely, if ever, have seen the combination of record high onshore waves, coupled with gale force winds.”

It’s been reported by the afternoon the snow had started to melt and traffic jams by other locals dying to get a glimpse of the temporary winter wonderland.
Of course, 4ft of snow is nothing compared to the temperatures other parts of the US have dropped to over the last few weeks.
In Washington, youngsters were pictured sledding down the roads of Olympia after schools across the state were closed.

At the end of January, people living and working in Chicago were told not to ‘breathe too deeply’ due to the temperature.
The extreme cold snap also took its toll on other places and even Niagara falls fell victim – the iconic waterfalls ended up partially frozen over after being subjected to the sub-zero temperatures.
