He also admitted that he doesn’t like people photographing or filming him, which is fair enough.
He told the newspaper:“I have social anxiety. I don’t like large groups of people, which is ironic given I play shows to thousands of people. I feel claustrophobic and I don’t like being around many people.
“I have no problem with talking to people. But it’s when people film me and stare at me. It makes me feel weird.”
He went on to say it makes it feel he’s ‘not human’ and that he would rather people just approached him and struck up a competition rather than just asking for a photo.

Headded:“It puts you down to earth and you’re just 15 likes on Instagram. That’s all you are.”
Before saying that he is often even filmed while out eating a meal in a restaurant, which he says makes him feel ‘like an animal in a zoo’.
To help himself, Ed says he has ditched his mobile phone and that he only looks at his ’emails twice a day’.
Ed has previously said he is a very private person, which is at odds with his levels of mega-stardom. After living in New York and then central London, Ed decided to move away from it all and now lives in a mansion in Suffolk where he can keep his head down.
The singer, who recently confirmed the long-standingrumoursthat he had married former schoolmate Cherry Seaborn, 27, also said his anxiety makes him question why she is even with him.
He told the Sun: “I constantly wake up every day and look at Cherry and think, ‘why the f**k are you with me?’ She could be with anyone she wants to but she has chosen me.
“And I am saying all of the things that are wrong with me and you still want to be with me. She doesn’t add fuel to the flames. If she said, ‘Yeah, why am I with you?’ then you would get anxiety.”
Despite all of this, Ed was quick to add: “I don’t mean to complain, I have a cool job and life.”
