A Bootle mum has claimed that party glitter she bought from Home Bargains dyed her niece’s hair green.

Liz Robinson told the ECHO that she bought the glitter at the discount store in Crosby on December 8 for a Christmas party. Liz said she took the glitter to a relative’s house in Litherland, where her niece opened the bottle.

She said the glitter dyed the one-year-old girl’s hair green and stained the carpet – leading to a family row.

She said: “Lola my three-year-old niece opened the pack when I wasn’t looking. It went everywhere, as you can imagine. Ruby is only one and it got in her hair. And it stained the carpet. This all happened in the run up to Christmas which made matter worse.

“It caused a bit of an argument and we all got a bit upset. It took weeks to get the dye out of her hair. But the carpet is still a mess. We can’t get the dye out.”

Liz said she was disappointed with the response from Home Bargains so far.

She added: ” I have phoned Home Bargains and emailed them. But the response has been really disappointing.”

Liz said the glitter had a product warning on the back but that she bought it in the children’s section of the shop. She said: “I noticed the product warning after my niece opened it. It was too late then.”
