What a brilliant over – just one run and the wicket.

  2. SA 13-1

Sune Luus plonks her bat down on a yorker, and that’s a fine over from Ratanaporn Padunglerd first up. Thailand just keep on taking wickets in the powerplay!

  3. Post update

With no Marizanne Kapp, it’ll be Sune Luus at three for the Proteas.

She was being too careful there. She didn’t give it the full swing that she normally would to a ball like that.

    WICKET

    Van Niekerk c Chantham b Padunglerd 2 (SA 13-1)

    Gone! Horror shot!

Dane van Niekerk smashes her fist against her bat in annoyance, and she’s right to. What an awful way to get out. Danni Wyatt-esque from the South Africa skipper. She pumps a full toss straight to the waiting fielder at mid-wicket, who barely has to move to take a simple catch.

  6. SA 13-0

An outside edge from Lizelle Lee bounces just in front of the fielder at short third man, before she mis-times a club into the covers.

I spent some time with the Thailand team in a training camp. They work very hard on all the fundamentals.

  8. Post update

Pace, in the form of Ratanaporn Padunglerd, for Thailand.

A very encouraging over from Lateh.

  10. SA 12-0

Full toss first up, and captain Tippoch ends up parrying the ball away to allow Dane van Niekerk to off the mark with a single.

Tidy enough from Soraya Lateh, dragging her length back a touch, and South Africa are limited to a smattering of singles.

  11. Post update

And at the other end, it’ll be left-armer Soraya Lateh.

  12. SA 8-0

And this time Lizelle Lee goes up and over backward square!

It’s another sweep from the South Africa opener, maybe a touch more aerial than she intended, but it’s flown over the head of the closest fielder and gone bouncing away to the ropes.

    Joanne Broadbent

That was easy pickings for Lee.

  14. SA 4-0

    Hello!

It takes all of three balls for Lizelle Lee to get down and wallop a sweep through backward square for four.

Some of Thailand’s plans are perhaps a little obvious but they’ll learn and what better way to learn than playing the world’s best teams.

We could see a much better Thailand team in four years after this experience.

  16. SA 0-0

A solid defensive prod from Lizelle Lee, and we’re under way!

  17. Post update

And to open the bowling, it’ll be right-arm off-spinner Nattaya Boochatham.

What I love about the Thailand captain Tippoch is her positivity. This first powerplay will be very interesting.

  20. Post update

    Alex Hartley

England spinner on BBC Test Match Special

I think Lizelle Lee’s under a bit of pressure to get some runs today. She’s one of the leading batters in the world, but she’s not got many lately.
