A woman and her six-year-old daughter have been injured and taken to hospital after they were hit by a vehicle on a footpath near a beach.

The young girl and her 35-year-old mother were hit by a car in Bracelet Bay car park in Mumbles, Swansea.

South Wales Police said a car had gone over an embankment and on to the path.

Police initially said the woman was seriously hurt but later confirmed her injuries were “not life changing or life threatening”.

The 84 year-old driver of the car was not injured.

Both the injured woman and the girl were taken by ambulance to Morriston Hospital in Swansea and police said the young girl had suffered “minor injuries”.

The air ambulance, coastguard and fire crews also attended the scene and The Mumbles Coastguard Cliff Rescue Team said on Twitter it had been “to assist with a car that had gone over the embankment”.

South Wales Police have appealed for witnesses.
