In just 10 days time Anthony Joshua makes the most recent of his heavyweight title defences against Alexander Povetkin. Ahead of the fight in Wembley the former Olympic champion looks in good shape.
There’s no doubt that most people would prefer Anthony Joshua’s fight on September 22nd to be against fellow undefeated heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder but Russian Alexander Povetkin will be just as dangerous an opponent if AJ takes his eye off the ball.
Wilder will face Tyson Fury sometime later in the year as a fight between the American and Joshua looks further away than it has before.
Before that though AJ must get past Povetkin next weekend and ahead of the fight he was looking pretty good in training:
Paint me like one of your French girls:
Speaking toSky Sports Newsabout his sparring regime ahead of the fight the 28 year old said,“People aren’t coming to give me rounds anymore. They don’t say: ‘what do you want me to do?’
“No. They’re coming to take my head off because I’m the hunted.
“I’ve become the hunted and I’m well aware of that, and it’s made me up my game. This is the reality I live in.“
The Londoner is having his sixth defence of the IBF title he won from Charles Martin in April 2016 and the third defence of the extra titles won against Wladimir Klitschko.
He’ll hope to beat Povetkin before moving on to some even bigger matches.
