Manchester City wrapped up the signing of Claudio Gomes last week, and he made his debut on Sunday in the Community Shield final.
It wasted a mere one-second.
The 18-year-old starlet swapped Paris Saint-Germain for the Premier League champions. He’s made a name himself as a talented defensive midfielder who boasts plenty of speed and energy.
But City fans will need another outing to judge him following his very, very brief cameo against Chelsea.
Pep Guardiola drafted the French starlet on in the 95th minute in place of John Stones.
As he entered the pitch, the corner was taken with Jonathan Moss then blowing the full-time whistle.
It got plenty of people talking. Here’s some reaction from Twitter:
Anyway, Guardiola is impressed with the youngster: “He has been so good, so good,” he said.
The Spaniard was then quizzed whether Gomes will be a part of City’s senior fold for the new season: “My opinion is that at that age you have to play. You need minutes, if not with us then with the second team.”
He added: “But it could be like what happened with Phil Foden and Brahim Diaz – he could stay with us, because from what we have seen in these days, the impression is good, so good.”
We hope to see more of Gomes.
