Eden Hazard Admits What He Messaged Jose Mourinho After Chelsea Sacking

Chelsea forward Eden Hazard has revealed the message he sent to Jose Mourinho after the Manchester United manager lost his job at Chelsea for the second time in 2015.

Eden Hazard might be the best player in the Premier League right now but in 2015/16, the season after helping Chelsea win the league, he had an absolute shocker, scoring just four league goals all season.

In 2013 Jose Mourinho returned to Chelsea. Having won two Premier League title with the Blues in his first spell the west London club wanted him to return and recapture that success.

In his first spell at Stamford Bridge the ‘Special One’ won the league in his first season but this time it took him to the second season to regain the Premier League title.

However just months later and Mourinho was sacked after a dreadful start to the defence. The Blues lost nine of their opening 16 games and were in a genuine relegation fight when Mourinho was sacked.

The former Real Madrid boss wasn’t helped by the form of his star player Eden Hazard, who didn’t score a league goal until Mourinho was long gone. In an interview with HLN, in Belgium, Hazard revealed the message he sent to his former boss after the sacking, saying:

“I sent him a message to say I was sorry he had gone and that I was sorry. We’d enjoyed all that success together, but this time we hadn’t. I felt a little bit guilty because I’d been player of the year [In 2014/15]. I’d been one of the most decisive players, and then I performed less.”

Hazard did admit that it was his fault adding,“In 12 years I’ve only had one bad season, the last six months under Mourinho, and it was partly my own fault. After the title, we asked Mourinho for extra holidays. I came back totally out of shape.

That season it took the former Lille man till the end of January to score a goal in any competition, scoring a penalty against MK Dons in the FA Cup.

It took until April and a game against Bournemouth for him to get off the mark in the league, scoring a brace.

Despite a poor season though the 27 year old did have a major say on the title when he scored in the Blues’ 2-2 draw with Spurs, which confirmed Leicester as champions.
