Shay Mitchell Shared 3 Dreamy Ways to Style a Coffee Table

“Pretty Little Liars” actor Shay Mitchell has some pretty little ways to bring a coffee table to life. With some help from interior designer Chad Wood of Good Wood Vintage, Mitchell recently shared a how-to video on IGTV that showcased three ways to style a coffee table with three distinctive design themes at the forefront: Minimalist, eclectic, and statement. The actor used a dreamy white marble coffee table as the foundation for the tutorial.

People who hate clutter will be particularly pleased with the clean and minimal design. Taper candles, a modest-sized green plant, a small bowl for snacks, a vintage aluminum ashtray, and a coffee table book are dispersed throughout, leaving ample room to show off the marble. The eclectic table design is more of a “personal coffee table,” one that will house all of the things that “make you smile,” per Wood. A more dramatic floral arrangement is used to offer more flow and movement. “And it tells a story,” Mitchell added of the eclectic design theme.

Finally, for the third and final statement theme, Wood and Mitchell added an unorthodox piece of tabletop decor: Palm tree seeds. Wood placed a hydrangea with the tropical plant, calling it a “thought-provoking” piece due to its unusualness. The plants are complemented by some interesting metal design pieces and the aluminum tray. “It’s the balance of it all together that makes it interesting [because] it’s something you wouldn’t see everyday,” Wood said.

Much of the pieces used for the tutorial are available on Wood’s newly-launched Good Wood Vintage website, a furniture shop that carries furniture, artwork, and home decor. The designer also worked with Mitchell to design her 1920s Los Angeles home, as glimpsed in her Architectural Digest feature from earlier this year. Between Mitchell’s coffee table arrangements and newly-designed L.A. oasis, it’s safe to say we’ve got major design envy.
