Roof caves in on raffle for couple’s £3m home – The Times

A couple who raffled their £3 million home have been criticised after they scrapped the competition.
Mark and Sharon Beresford sold only £750,000 worth of the £25 tickets, and substituted a £110,000 cash prize for the six-bedroom house.
The competition, called Win a Megahome, was launched last March and closed at the end of 2018 with only 30,000 tickets sold, the couple said.
Under the terms and conditions of the raffle, if fewer than 175,000 tickets were sold, a cash prize would be offered instead, after promotion costs were deducted. The couple said they racked up £640,000 in advertising, marketing, PR and legal costs.
