This Morning’s Holly & Phil present chaotic cooking segment solo – DigitalSpy.com

This Morning’s Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield had an eventful end to today’s show, when Gino D’Acampo called in sick.
The presenting duo were forced to fill in for the chef, taking charge of Gino’s cooking segment in his absence – and naturally, it ended up more than a little bit chaotic as they did their best making a crab pasta dish.

With prosecco, they were quick to mention.

Holly and Phil followed instructions written on a piece of paper, firstly boiling some pasta. They added olive oil, garlic, chilli, and cherry tomatoes into a pan, then Holly opened a bottle of prosecco.
“It’s not just for you to drink!” Phil told Holly, before prosecco was added to the pan.

“We need parsley, olives, and crab, which we’ve got here,” Holly read out. Phillip reacted in shock.
“And what?!” he said.
“Crab.”
“Right,” a relieved Phil replied. “It didn’t sound like that to me – because I am not putting that in my dish! It might end up being that, but I’m not starting with it.”
“That’s not what I said,” Holly said, bursting into laughter.

The shenanigans were interrupted as a sick Gino still managed to call the studio to order Holly and Phil around.
“Stir the pasta!” he demanded. “The pasta and the garlic and the chilli are burning!”
“Can I say something?” Holly responded. “You don’t sound nearly sick enough not to be here, by the way…”

Gino said: “I’m not well. I’ve got a stomach bug, and I didn’t want to give you the stomach bug. Where is the crab? Where is the crab! I don’t see any chopped parsley, either!”
“Can you stop shouting,” Holly requested. “Stop shouting, you’re very sick. Just calm down.”
Holly then tried to demonstrate how to check if the pasta is cooked, throwing a piece at the window. Only, she forgot that the window behind her was fake.
It didn’t stick.

“That’s a plasma!” Phil said. “It’s not a real window!”
“What are you doing?” Gino added. “That’s not the way to check the pasta!”
After adding some lemon zest (and a bit more prosecco), the dish was ready and served. And it actually tasted really good.

“We are good!” Holly said, taking a bite. “And the pasta is cooked to perfection… Aren’t we good?”
“And on time as well! Marvellous,” Phil added.
This Morning airs weekdays from 10.30am on ITV.
