21 October 2019 NEWS
Pictures ofJennifer Lawrence’s wedding dress, which she wore to marry Cooke Maroney, might be blurry at best, but photographers roving around the couple’s Rhode Island venue captured guests giving good outfit game.
Cameron Diaz, Kris Jenner, Adele, Nicole Richie and Emma Stone were all in attendance at the Belcourt Mansion celebrations, but it was Ashley Olsen and Sienna Miller who raised the sartorial bar with two voluminous red-carpet worthy gowns.
First, Olsen, who wore a bewitching black Marc Jacobs dress with sequin-strewn puffball sleeves. A pair of Chanel sunglasses and a chunky barrette topped off the look from Jacobs’s autumn/winter 2019 collection, which saw thedesigner err on the side of couture-likesavoir-faire.
Next, Miller, who broke herGucci habitand looked to Johanna Ortiz for something dramatic and impactful. The crimson Señora Maria Rosa gown with off-the-shoulder silhouette and balloon sleeves is emblematic of the Colombian designer’s unabashedly feminine designs and in keeping with the actor’s bohemian aesthetic.
And the bride wore Dior –according to sources. It was widely expected that the actor would choose Maria Grazia Chiuri, creative director of womenswear, to create her wedding dress, owing to her long-standing relationship with the house. Lawrence was made a brand ambassador by former design chief Raf Simons in 2012 after he found her work “unique and moving”, and has fronted campaigns for the Miss Dior handbag line and Dior Joy fragrance since. Many of her previous Dior gowns, including the fairytale design that spawned a hundred memes when Lawrence tripped at the Oscars 2013, have been deemed worthy of walking down the aisle. According toLawrence’s remarks on a podcast, she had already found her bridalwear in June and was in “a good place”. “I haven’t been neurotic about it… I saw a dress I liked and I was like, ‘That’s the dress’.”
