Pickford had reportedly watched his former club Sunderland lose in the Checkatrade Trophy final against Portsmouth in the city centre before moving on to a bar.

The video shows punches thrown by revellers on the street – and it has been claimed that one of the people seen in the video is the 25-year-old Everton goalkeeper.

Onlookers can be heard shouting “Jordan” as a fight breaks out before the man, believed to be Pickford, is dragged away.

An Everton statement said: “The club has been made aware of an alleged incident involving one of our players and we are looking into the matter.”

Northumbria Police on Tuesday confirmed they are looking into the incident.

A spokesperson said: “At 12:19am Monday April 1, police received a report of a disturbance involving a large group of individuals on Tunstall Road, Sunderland.

“Enquiries are ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident and locate those involved. Nobody is believed to have been seriously injured and no arrests have been made.”

Apropos the incident, a bystander told The Sun: “Jordan was being a bit of a k**b.

“He had been in the River Bar earlier that day, walking around like he was a big shot and driving around in his Lamborghini outside the front.

“They then went into Sunderland where a fight broke out. Jordan at one point had his top off and had been shouting.

Another witness added: “He was back in Sunderland and had been watching the match. He had been out all day.

“He had been out in Washington earlier and he eventually ended up in Ps and Qs. He was in the bar.

”He was with about ten people, a few of them dragged him away and put him in a taxi and took him home.”

Pickford was signed by Everton from Sunderland in 2017 in a deal worth up to £30million.

He became the most expensive British goalkeeper ever and the third most expensive goalkeeper ever at the time upon completion of the transfer.

He has gone on to make 80 appearances for the Merseyside club and was one of England’s heroes at the 2018 World Cup in Russia, playing a key role in the Three Lions’ run to the semi-finals.
