2024 Grand National: Analyzing the Competitors, Their Odds, and Expert Predictions

By Richard Austen, Spotlight editor

Despite a dramatic fall while leading at the Cheltenham Festival, which could have been a turning point for many horses, MAHLER MISSION (nap) is set to overcome that setback and triumph in the Grand National. His jumping prowess has generally been a highlight rather than a concern, making him a strong contender for another attempt at a marathon distance after his near-miss in the National Hunt Chase 13 months ago. Vanillier and Kitty’s Light are proven long-distance runners but have yet to convince on soft or heavy tracks. Vanillier, in particular, shows promise on softer grounds, bolstered by his strong, albeit slightly unlucky, second-place finish in last year’s National. Corach Rambler, who effortlessly took the lead early in the previous race, is in contention again following a solid performance in last month’s Gold Cup. Mr Incredible also appears capable of a strong showing, having maintained form over 4m2f on heavy ground four weeks prior. Noble Yeats, with a first-place and a close fourth in the last two Grand Nationals, alongside Roi Mage, who impressed in the previous year’s race, are also horses to watch. I Am Maximus might have been a top contender but faces the challenge of numerous jumps. Adamantly Chosen is another notable entry from the Mullins stable. Ultimately, Mahler Mission is favored to win, with Vanillier, Roi Mage, and Mr Incredible as close competitors.
