Hayley Atwell praised Tom Cruise for taking a risk on her: “I was finally given the opportunity and the trust.”

Hayley Atwell is “forever grateful” to Tom Cruise and Christopher ‘McQ’ McQuarrie for including her in the Mission: Impossible franchise.

In ‘Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning, Part One,’ Hayley, age 41, portrays Grace, a master thief, and she cherished the opportunity to showcase her talents.

She told The Hollywood Reporter, “I was ultimately granted the confidence and the platform… to demonstrate more range and emotional depth in a franchise or something of this size, something I had not been able to do previously. Tom and McQ, who provided me with resources and a support system every day on set so that I could flourish, have my enduring gratitude. This salvation has been a long time coming. After 17 years in this industry, I have finally been given the opportunity to make a film of this caliber, something I have never had before.”

In addition, Hayley has many memorable moments from the filming, including a car pursuit in which Tom restrained her.

She stated, “There is approximately 20 minutes of footage of us drifting repeatedly. Then Tom led the crew in a round of acclaim, and McQ said, “Tom put his life in your hands just then, and he would not have allowed you to do that if he did not believe you could take care of him as well.” Therefore, they are never lacking in commendation when actors deliver for them. I will never forget that moment.”
