Warrington attended Frampton’s bout against Aussie Luke Jackson last month in Belfast and the Leeds native was on the receiving end of some stick from the Northern Irish crowd regarding his attire.

Warrington and ‘The Jackal’ fight on the 22nd December at the Manchester Arena for the IBF Featherweight title and their UK tour got underway yesterday, with the first press conference taking place in London.

‘The Warrior’ is used to boxing on home turf, and when asked about fighting on neutral territory, Warrington said: “It’s exciting, for the last four or five years I’ve been fighting in Leeds.

“I had the home comforts fighting only ten minutes away from where I live, so it is going to be nice to have a change of scenery. With twenty-two thousand it is going to be a hell of a crowd as well.

“I’ve been over to Belfast and seen Carl’s fans and they are very passionate, they love their boxing and they show a lot of respect, even though they slagged my suit off when I got in the ring.

The 27-year-old added: “It wasn’t from Tesco either by the way, you cheeky f**kers.”

The IBF champion then went on to brand the bout ‘the fight of the year’, saying: “It is going to be a good night, I’m not going to sit up here and do Frank’s job.

“But, this is going to the best fight of the year without a doubt. You have got two hungry fighters, there is no bulls**t or fake beef between each other, it is just two lads seeing who is the best.

“Not only that, you will have a hell of an atmosphere. Carl’s fans are some of the best in the world and I believe my fans are as well, all under one roof, it is going to be a big fight.”

Carl Frampton is2/5to defeat Warrington and become a world champion for the third time, whilst the Leeds fighter is5/2to retain the belt.
