Zinedine Zidane Favourite To Become The Next Manchester United Manager

Earlier this week, Jose Mourinho became favourite to be the first Premier League manager to be sacked at 5/1, with Sky Bet placing the likes of Leicester City manager Claude Puel and Cardiff City boss Neil Warnock below the 55-year-old.

Many are beginning to doubt his reign in charge at Old Trafford after an average pre-season and a lack of transfer activity.

The club have brought in some useful players in Fred, Diogo Dalot and goalkeeper Lee Grant, but those signings have failed to satisfy the appetite of many.

Some are even discussing which manager would take over at Manchester United if Mourinho decided to leave the club, with some big names mentioned among the bookies favourites.

Former Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane, who is currently without a job, is favourite to take over the reigns at Old Trafford at 4/1 with Betfair and Paddy Power, according to Oddschecker.

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino is second favourite at 11/2, while Carlo Ancelotti, who has won the Champions League three times, is at 10/1.

Former Manchester United winger Ryan Giggs is among the list, while Antonio Conte, Luis Enrique and Brendan Rodgers, of all people, are also linked.

It has been an unusually quiet spell in the window for Manchester United and vice-chairman Ed Woodward has been criticised in the meantime, but a recent report may just shine some light on the current situation at Old Trafford.

The Independent report that as both men planned for the transfer window, Woodward proposed a big name signing, with Kylian Mbappe, Neymar and Gareth Bale all mentioned.

Jose Mourinho, however, turned that idea down, because ‘he had such a clear vision for how his team should be.’

Do you think United need to stick with Jose Mourinho or do they need to look elsewhere?
