Amazon Prime debuted NBA YoungBoy’s concert film on its streaming service on July 4. The move follows a theatrical release in April that earned $1.84 million in its opening weekend.
Rapper YoungBoy Never Broke Again’s concert film, American YoungBoy, officially arrived on Prime Video for the Fourth of July weekend, following a theatrical release in April that earned an impressive $1.84 million in its opening weekend. It’s certainly no Michael, but not a bad take for a concert film.
Directed by Nico Ballesteros, the film was released through the rapper’s 38 Heights Film and Productions. It’s a documentary that covers his 42-date “Make America Slime Again” arena tour, which claims to have become the highest-grossing run by a debut headlining rapper.
The feature-length documentary offers fans a rare look at the Baton Rouge native’s world, including stage performances, backstage scenes, and personal moments tied to one of the most significant chapters of his career. The tour itself has been described as a landmark run for the artist, who has built one of the most loyal fan bases in contemporary rap music.
For YoungBoy, whose real name is Kentrell DeSean Gaulden, his film company represents his first formal step into filmmaking and visual storytelling. The film aims to deliver a “focus on raw, intentional narratives rooted in live experience, creativity, and culture.”
Known for his emotional intensity, impressive output, and direct connection with fans, YoungBoy has amassed over 30 billion global streams, 109 RIAA certifications, and more than 16 billion YouTube views. According to the announcement, he is also recognized as the youngest artist to surpass 100 Billboard Hot 100 entries, and is the record holder for the most albums to chart by a rapper in Billboard history.
To celebrate the release of the film on Prime Video, YoungBody has launched a merchandise capsule collection inspired by the MASA Tour through his Never Broke Again Clothing imprint. The collection is available on his website.
