While much of the Stranger Things cast gathered in New York City to celebrate Maya Hawke’s wedding to musician Christian Lee Hutson, one familiar face was absent: David Harbour.
Instead of attending Hawke and Hutson’s ceremony at St. George’s Episcopal Church, Harbour was spotted taking a Valentine’s Day stroll across town with an unidentified red-haired woman.
Photos published by Page Six show the 50-year-old actor dressed casually in an olive green pea coat, relaxed pants and a blue baseball cap as he walked alongside his bundled-up companion.
‘Emotional turmoil’
The wedding itself drew a strong turnout from the Netflix hit’s ensemble. According to Page Six, co-stars Finn Wolfhard, Joe Keery, Caleb McLaughlin, Gaten Matarazzo, Sadie Sink and Natalie Dyer were all in attendance.
Actors Sam Nivola and Kathryn Newton were also present as Hawke, the daughter of Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman, tied the knot with Hutson.
Harbour’s absence comes during a period of personal upheaval, as the actor is currently going through divorce proceedings with pop singer Lily Allen. The couple married in 2020 and split in 2025.
Page Six reported that news of their separation surfaced last February, the same month Allen revealed she had sought treatment for what she described as, “emotional turmoil.”

Allen has since appeared to address aspects of their relationship in her music.
On her album West End Girl, including the track “Madeline,” she references alleged rule-breaking within what she described as an open marriage and implies infidelity, according to Page Six. Allen was previously married to Sam Cooper, with whom she shares two daughters.
Harbour’s personal life has also intersected with scrutiny surrounding the final season of Stranger Things.
According to People, Millie Bobby Brown, who plays Eleven opposite Harbour’s Jim Hopper, “filed a harassment and bullying claim before they started shooting the last season,” a source told The Daily Mail, as reported by People.
The source added that, “there were pages and pages of accusations” and that the subsequent investigation, “went on for months.”
Representatives for Netflix, Brown and Harbour did not respond to requests for comment at the time, People reported.
A Close Bond?
Despite reports of tension, both actors have previously spoken publicly about their close bond.
Reflecting on their dynamic during a 2018 appearance at PaleyFest, Brown said, “We went through so many different emotions… we get angry at each other, we are like father and daughter,” according to People.
She explained that she and Harbour, “would express our feelings on and off the set, and… those scenes were so raw and real that the reward is the scenes.”
In light of these claims, none of the stars have made any comment on why Harbour did not attend the nuptials. Despite his notable absence, the ceremony was still a spectacularly star-studded event, with enough celebrity sightings to rival any red carpet.
Newsweek has reached out to representatives of David Harbour for comment via email.
