March 26 (UPI) — Life is Strange: Reunion, the fifth main game in the Life is Strange series, releases Thursday.

The new game from Deck Nine and Square Enix reunites Max Caulfield and Chloe Price, Max’s best friend and possible romantic interest throughout the series, at Caledon University.

The story-centric game is one of several to feature an LGBTQ protagonist, including others in the Life is Strange series. Here is a list of five others:

‘Hades’

The 2020 roguelike RPG from Supergiant Games is inspired by Greek mythology. The game follows Zagreus, the son of Hades, as he attempts to escape from the Underworld and reach Mount Olympus.

Zagreus is bisexual, with players also having the option of forming a polyamorous relationship.

Hades is available on PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch and PC. Its sequel, Hades II, was officially released in September.

‘The Last of Us Part II’

The 2020 action-adventure game from Naughty Dog centers on Ellie, who was first introduced in 2013’s The Last of Us. That game follows the smuggler Joel and a 14-year-old Ellie as they traverse a post-apocalyptic world filled with zombie-like creatures.

In Part II, Ellie is now 18 and seeks revenge on the character Abby while accompanied by her girlfriend, Dina.

The Last of Us and its sequel are available on PlayStation and PC.

In addition, the pair of games were adapted as an HBO series starring Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey. The show was renewed for Season 3 in April 2025.

‘Tell Me Why’

The 2020 story-centric game from Dontnod Entertainment follows Tyler and Alyson, twin siblings who reunite in their Alaska hometown to investigate the death of their mother. The pair have telepathic powers and experience visions of past events.

Tell Me Why explores childhood trauma, mental health and Tyler’s identity as a transgender man. The game is available on Xbox and PC.

‘Celeste’

The 2018 platformer from Maddy Makes Games follows Madeline, a young woman who attempts to climb to the top of Celeste Mountain while battling her anxiety and depression.

Celeste co-creator Maddy Thorson confirmed in 2020 that Madeline is a transgender woman, with the game’s story “unknowingly” reflecting Thorson’s own coming out as trans.

The game is available on PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch and PC.

‘Night in the Woods’

The 2017 story-centric game from Infinite Fall and Secret Lab follows Mae Borowski, an anthropomorphic cat who returns to the small town of Possum Springs after dropping out of college.

In Night in the Woods, Mae discovers dark secrets in her hometown while struggling with her own mental health. The character is pansexual, with her romantic possibilities including her friend Bea.

Night in the Woods is available on PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch and PC.
