March 9 (UPI) — The San Francisco 49ers agreed to a three-year contract with wide receiver Mike Evans, sources familiar with the agreement told UPI on Monday.

The pact, which is worth up to $60.4 million, will end the veteran pass catcher’s decorated 12-year tenure with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Evans, 32, joined the Buccaneers as the No. 7 overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. He totaled at least 1,000 yards per season for a record-tying 11 consecutive years from 2014 through 2024.

Evans caught a career-low 30 passes for 368 yards and three scores last season, when he missed nine games due to a broken collarbone and concussion.

The six-time Pro Bowl selection and 2020-21 Super Bowl champion is the Buccaneers’ franchise leader in catches, receiving yards, receiving touchdowns and points.

His 108 receiving touchdowns rank 10th in NFL history. Evans’ 866 catches and 13,052 receiving yards rank 31st and 21st, respectively, in NFL history.

“Saying goodbye to a legend such as Mike Evans is never easy, but today we are filled with appreciation and gratitude for all that he did during his extraordinary 12-year career as a Buccaneer,” the Glazer family, who owns the Buccaneers, said in a statement.

“Our goal was always to ensure that Mike would play his entire career as a Buccaneer, but as we got further in the process it became clear he was looking for a new challenge.”

Chris Godwin Jr., Emeka Egbuka and Jalen McMillan are set to be among the Buccaneers’ top wide receivers in 2026. Ricky Pearsall and Demarcus Robinson are among the top wide receivers under contract with the 49ers next season.
