Melania Trump opened up about her favorite music while celebrating Valentine’s Day during a visit to the National Institutes of Health on Wednesday.
The first lady was asked by a young attendee what music she listens to while making arts and crafts.
“I listen to all kinds of music. I like Michael Jackson, Pavarotti, I like Tina Turner, I like Miley Cyrus,” she said during a CBS segment.
She then shared that she has a few favorite songs on her iTunes, prompting the girl to ask which one was her favorite.
“It’s hard to choose a favorite song,” the first lady admitted. “But one of them, it’s Michael Jackson – Billie Jean.”
However, this is not the first time she has publicly shared her love for the song. In her recent documentary Melania, the track featured prominently, and she described it as her favorite song, alongside “Thriller.”
“I met him once with Donald, he was very sweet, very nice,” she said in the documentary while speaking about her favorite artist.
The documentary, released on January 30, offers what Amazon described as unprecedented access to the first lady’s life in the 20-day lead-up to the 2025 presidential inauguration.
The film follows Melania Trump as she oversees inauguration preparations, navigates the complexities of the White House transition, and relocates her family back to Washington, D.C. Featuring exclusive footage of key meetings, private conversations, and previously unseen settings, the documentary chronicles her return to one of the most powerful roles in the world.
The release arrived with significant commercial expectations. Amazon reportedly spent $40 million to acquire the distribution rights, though early box office projections estimated a comparatively modest $1–$2 million for its opening weekend.
According to Box Office Mojo, the documentary has grossed $14,036,413 domestically since opening, outperforming initial predictions. Critical reception, however, has been overwhelmingly negative.
A news segment posted on CBS’s Facebook page sparked strong reactions, with critics referencing Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime show. The Puerto Rican star previously drew backlash from Republicans who opposed his Spanish-language performance, prompting Turning Point USA to host an alternative MAGA halftime show headlined by Kid Rock.
“Do you listen to Bad Bunny?? Oh no its Kid Rock,” said Noreen Kutsch.
“What I wouldn’t give for her to have said Bad Bunny,” said Gail Garcia.
