April 9 (UPI) — Colorado Avalanche forward Nazem Kadri will miss several games because of a finger injury, coach Jared Bednar told reporters Thursday in Denver.
Bednar was hurt in a 3-1 win over the St. Louis Blues on Tuesday in St. Louis. The veteran forward, who joined the Avalanche in a March trade from the Calgary Flames, totaled four goals and five assists in 16 games since the move.
“He is going to miss some games here,” Bednar said. “And then, hopefully, we’ll get him in before the playoffs, maybe next week.”
Kadri, logged 16 goals and 34 assists over 77 total appearances this season, including in 61 games for the Flames. The two-time All-Star totaled a career-high 35 goals and 32 assists over 82 appearances in 2024-25.
Kadrid totaled 323 goals and 437 assists over the first 1,062 appearances of his career, which included playing for the Toronto Maple Leafs and Avalanche before he joined the Flames in 2022-23.
The Avalanche (51-16-10) have the NHL’s best record and clinched the Western Conference’s top seed. They are still attempting to clinch the Presidents’ Trophy — given to the team with the league’s best record — which would give them home ice advantage through the Stanley Cup Final.
The Avalanche will host the Flames (32-36-9) at 9 p.m. EDT Thursday in Denver. A win would secure the Presidents’ Trophy.
