What Happened

A 19-year-old student attacked and injured nine people at a vocational school in Mazovia on Wednesday.

On Thursday, a 15-year-old entered a primary school in Leszczydół-Nowiny, north of Warsaw, and stabbed a 37-year-old caretaker to death.

On Saturday, a 17-year-old was detained in Sierpc, northwest of Warsaw, after allegedly stating on school grounds that he planned to harm someone.

Government Response

Prime Minister Donald Tusk said the attacks were driven by the ‘glorification of violence’ online.

He described the actions as examples of ‘nihilistic violence’ linked to extreme right ideologies.

Police have arrested 117 people across Poland for possession of knives or threats to attack schools or students.

Key Facts

Online Influence

Tusk said some detainees are active in ultraright online communities.

Police have observed a rise in online searches for Nazi content and for ‘mass killers’ who have become online idols.

These trends, he said, reflect a broader global and domestic rise in fascination with violence.

Why It Matters

The incidents have triggered widespread concern about online radicalization and its real-world impact.

Poland’s education system is now under increased scrutiny, with schools facing heightened security measures.

Authorities are also assessing whether online challenges or viral content may have inspired the attacks.

What to Watch Next

Police will continue monitoring school environments and online forums for signs of extremist activity.

Officials are evaluating whether specific online content or ideologies should be regulated.

Public safety measures may expand to include digital content monitoring in schools.
