‘Shame and Money’ and ‘Exile’ Director Visar Morina Signs With Cinetic (EXCLUSIVE)

Visar Morina, the filmmaker behind the 2026 Sundance World Cinema Dramatic Competition Jury Prize winner “Shame and Money” has signed with Cinetic for representation.

The film is eligible for the 2027 Best International Feature Film category at the Academy Awards thanks to rule changes announced this month. Under the new requirements, countries or regional selection committees can still select international films to submit for consideration, but films can also qualify by winning a designated top prize at one of six approved festivals. That’s a hurdle that “Shame and Money” cleared because of the prize it won at Sundance.

“Shame and Money” follows Shaban and Hatixhe, hardworking dairy farmers raising three daughters in rural Kosovo. They find themselves uprooted from their home because of a treacherous act and must face the harsh economic realities of urban living where they get assistance from well-to-do relatives. The film was embraced by critics at Sundance and currently has a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes . The Yellow Affair is handling global sales.
