State of Play Confirmed for 3rd September, State of Play Japan Show Straight After

See a new look at Final Fantasy 7 Revelation

Sony has officially announced the next State of Play showcase will take place this week, on 3rd September 2026.

The livestream will have “updates and announcements from PlayStation Studios and our third-party partners”, and it will conclude with an “extended look” at Final Fantasy 7 Revelation.

Immediately after the show, Sony will air another State of Play Japan event. “State of Play Japan will offer deep dives into upcoming games from game studios in Japan and Asia, including new gameplay, announcements, and more,” the PlayStation Blog post reveals.

The first State of Play livestream will start at:

  • North America: 6am PDT / 7am MDT / 8am CDT / 9am EDT
  • UK/Ire: 2pm BST
  • Europe: 3pm CEST / 4pm EEST
  • Asia/Oceania: 10pm JST / 9pm AWST / 11pm AEST

As for what might be featured during the livestream, Sony leaves the door open for PlayStation Studios announcements. It means we could see the likes of Until Dawn 2 and Intergalactic. Square Enix is already confirmed to close the show with Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, so that’s your “one more thing” already sorted.

There’ll also be “deep dives” into upcoming games from Japan and Asia. Last time Sony put on a State of Play Japan showcase, the biggest announcements were a Japan-specific PS5 console model, and DLC for Elden Ring Nightreign and Gran Turismo 7. Based on that, I would keep your expectations low for the second digital event.

Still, what would you like to see at the two shows? Let us know in the comments below.
