This Onimusha: Way of the Sword Retail Listing Is Making People Think It’s Launching Early

Is Capcom bringing it forward?

Much has been made of the extremely busy release schedule for the remainder of 2026, with September and October being particularly stacked.

Among the games launching in late September is Onimusha: Way of the Sword, Capcom’s promising action title. It’s currently pencilled in for 25th September 2026, close to several other games.

However, some are questioning whether that release timing may change, and rather than a delay, it might arrive sooner than expected.

This stems from a Canadian retailer called PNP Games, which listed Way of the Sword with a release date of 4th September 2026 — a full three weeks earlier than the current official date.

Potentially adding more fuel to the fire is the fact the listings for the game have since been removed, the implication being that they were made public too soon.

I’m not fully convinced, if I’m being honest — this could just as easily be a mistake, and the media coverage has alerted PNP to it, hence the removal of the pages.

Having said that, I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see Way of the Sword exit the ultra-busy period in which it currently plans to launch.

When you also consider Pragmata was released earlier than planned, it gives some credence to the idea Capcom might do the same for the return of Onimusha.

What do you think? Is this game really launching three weeks sooner than we thought? Tell us in the comments section below.
