United Airlines Unveiled A New Seat, And People Are Calling It The “Poor Man’s First Class”
“Amazed that it took until 2026 for this to be a thing.”
Ah, long-haul flights. Truly the only place on Earth where you can pay $800 to be held hostage in a pressurized metal tube, eat lukewarm “chicken or pasta” mystery box meats, and have an existential crisis over the person next to you taking an inch too much armrest space.
It’s less of a “travel experience” and more of a nine-hour endurance test. How fun!
Well, United Airlines unveiled a new option that people are calling the “poor man’s first class,” and it’s, not gonna lie, not that bad!
It’s called the “Relax Row,” and it’s basically something between the hell that is regular coach and business class.
As you can see, it consists of three economy seats equipped with specialized, adjustable leg rests that turn it into a bed.
According to United, “You’ll also get a mattress pad, blanket and two pillows. (Plus a plushie if you’re traveling with kids!) United Relax Row will be available starting next year on more than 200 of our 787s and 777s, each with up to 12 of these brand-new rows.”
“Airlines finally innovating!” one person said.
Another person wrote, “Amazed that it took until 2026 for this to be a thing.”
And some people are already calling it the “poor man’s business class.”
Other people are calling it a “game-changer” for people with kids.
“Ok, this is the best thing I’ve seen proposed on flights for families.”
One person asked the very important question: “If you book a single seat in a United Relax Row and then just really hit it off with the people next to you, are you allowed to decide as a group to convert it into a bed?”
And this person predicted this will become a thing: “Years overdue, and every airline will have to play catchup.”
Ultimately, let’s see how much it costs! Yeah, seems great, but as this person said, “This is so awesome. And so going to cost one million dollars.”
Until we see the price tag, I’ll just be over here in seat 55J, being incredibly jealous of everyone in the Relax Row as I walk past.
