Victor Wembanyama had another big game for the San Antonio Spurs, helping them win a crucial Game 6 in the Western Conference Finals, 118-91.
He once again filled out his stat line, this time scoring 28 points, grabbing 10 rebounds, blocking three shots, dishing out two assists, and stealing the ball twice.
Ahead of all that, cameras caught Wemby’s arrival at the arena as he walked to the locker room in a distinctive outfit, prompting people to wonder about the fashion choice.
The 7-foot-4 center from France wore a long robe, and some believed it might be due to his previous 10-day retreat training at China’s historic Shaolin Temple.

Wemby’s previous retreat allowed him to embrace the monastic life, shaving his head, wearing traditional robes, and living in isolation. He also participated in Kung Fu and meditation, all of which were part of a plan to improve physical range and mental toughness in his game.
Whether that will lead to him defeating OKC remains to be seen, but he played great again in Game 6. He also said his recent outfit had nothing to do with the monastic life.
Instead, the big man reportedly set the record straight in his postgame remarks, delivered in French. According to The Associated Press’s Tim Reynolds, his outfit for Game 6 was to celebrate Eid al-Adha, an Islamic holiday.
After arriving at the Spurs’ venue in that outfit, he went out and again imposed his will against the Oklahoma City Thunder to help bring San Antonio a crucial win.
The two teams have a Game 7 clash in Oklahoma City on Saturday night, and Wemby and his teammates will need to remain focused on defeating this battle-tested Thunder squad.
OKC breezed through the first two rounds of the NBA Playoffs with sweeps against the Phoenix Suns and Los Angeles Lakers. However, the Spurs are a team that seemingly had them figured out this past season, and are on the verge of eliminating the defending champs.
Game 7 between the Thunder and Spurs tips off at 8 p.m. ET on Saturday.
