June 1 (UPI) — Anna Kendrick will direct a film based on The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo. Deadline was the first to report and The Hollywood Reporter confirmed.
The Taylor Jenkins Reid novel adaptation will be Kendrick’s second film as director. She directed the Netflix film Woman of the Hour, based on the woman fixed up with serial killer Rodney Alcala on The Dating Game.
Netflix is also producing Evelyn Hugo. The book is about a reporter who lands an interview with reclusive Hollywood star Hugo about her seven marriages.
Jenkins Reid is an executive producer of the film. Liz Tigelaar and Francesca Sloane are working on the adaptation.
No casting has been announced yet. Kendrick did star in Woman, as a fictionalization of the Dating Game contestant, while also directing.
