Removed from sale on 25th June

Capcom has announced it’s removing all of the microtransactions related to Dragon’s Dogma 2 from sale, as it prepares the sequel for its Dark Arisen expansion in October.
From 25th June 2026, the Dragon’s Dogma 2 premium currency (Rift Crystals) will be taken off the PS Store, along with all the items you could purchase with real money, like Gaol Keys, Portcrystals, and Wakestones. Even the Deluxe Edition of the PS5 title is disappearing, leaving just the base version and a Camping Kit and a music pack up for purchase.
The firm said on social media the removals are due to “the development of additional content and various adjustments” in future updates, potentially suggesting the items may become more easily accessible. For example, last week’s patch already added a fast travel item called an Eternal Ferrystone.
Capcom also shares that the base version of the game will receive a permanent discount on 25th June 2026, though it hasn’t confirmed the new price just yet. “Thank you to everyone for your support,” the publisher concluded. “We hope you bring the same passion to Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen, as you did to Dragon’s Dogma 2.”
The unexpected and sudden inclusion of microtransactions was a controversial topic upon the launch of Dragon’s Dogma 2 back at release in 2024, as Capcom never said they would be a thing. Fans responded with a “mostly negative” user rating on PC, to which the publisher “sincerely apologised for any inconvenience”.
Now, over two years later, they’ll soon no longer be part of the game whatsoever. Are you happy to see them removed from sale? Let us know in the comments below.
As for the Dark Arisen expansion, it arrives on 9th October 2026 for PS5 and adds “new tales and thrilling encounters.”
“Available as a bundle, or as a separate expansion DLC on existing platforms.” An official description continues: “Embark to a snowy new area in the north: the long-abandoned Norgan region, and take on 12 new dungeon challenges spread across the existing world of Dragon’s Dogma 2. Also bring your Arisen and Pawns to life with new hairstyles and tattoo options.”
