Ethan Hawke makes rare appearance with wife Ryan and teen daughter Indiana

Ethan Hawke made his movie premiere a family affair.

The actor’s wife, Ryan Shawhughes, and their 15-year-old daughter, Indiana, made a rare red carpet appearance on Friday.

The trio attended the Deauville American Film Festival in Deauville, France, as Hawke was honored at the prestigious event and his upcoming film, “The Weight,” was listed as one of the movies set to premiere.

For the big night, Indiana wore a white, bohemian style dress paired with a pink shawl and gold purse. She wore her blond locks in beachy waves.

Ryan stunned in a sheer black dress and coordinated with her husband, who wore an all-black suit.

The couple have been married since 2008 and also share 18-year-old daughter, Clementine Jane.

The two girls have largely grown up out of the spotlight, but have joined their dad at events over the years.

Hawke, 55, was also previously wed to Uma Thurman from 1998 to 2005. During their marriage they welcomed daughter Maya, 28, and son Levon Roan, 24.

They split amid rumors that the “Before Sunrise” star was having an affair with Shawhughes, who was their nanny, which Hawke has repeatedly denied.

Since his messy divorce from Thurman, Hawke has mainly kept his love life out of the spotlight. However, he did briefly open up about the split and remarrying during an interview with the New York Times in November 2025.

“The public eye is like gasoline, but what makes divorce hard is the stuff that makes it hard for everyone — the family elements, how to help the kids through it,” he said at the time.

“I’m so envious of people who have amicable splits,” Hawke continued, adding that he would not comment on it further after he “vowed to [his] kids” not to publicly discuss it.

“When I split up I was hellbent on not having any more kids and I wanted to be single for the rest of my life. But then I made a best friend and I liked kissing her,” he said of his wife, Shawhughes.

In an interview with GQ the month prior, he called the 2005 divorce “humiliating.”
