The New York Knicks mounted the largest comeback in NBA Finals history on Wednesday night, erasing a 29-point San Antonio Spurs lead to claim a 107-106 victory in Game 4.
But in order to make this historic comeback, the Knicks first had to dig themselves into a serious hole.
The Spurs hit an NBA Finals-record 14 three pointers in the first half, jumping out to a 27-point lead at the halftime break. The Knicks needed every bit of talent and effort to mount their comeback, holding the Spurs to just 30 total points in the second half while storming back at Madison Square Garden.
Knicks veteran Josh Hart hopes the team can avoid this type of hole in Game 5.
“They come out with a lot of energy. They’ve been doing it all playoffs,” Hart said. “We’ve got to make sure we come in focused with a great attention to detail. … We can’t keep getting into a hole and trying to dig ourselves out of a hole.”

Hart finished Game 4 with another all-around performance, recording six points, eight rebounds, six assists and two steals. Jalen Brunson led the way with a game-high 36 points, while OG Anunoby recorded a playoff career-high 33 points.
The Knicks lead the series 3-1 heading into Game 5, one win away from the franchise’s first NBA title since 1973.
