Former No. 1 overall pick John Wall was a lucky charm for the Wizards on Sunday afternoon, as Washington won the 2026 NBA Draft Lottery.
The Wizards, who entered the event with a 14 percent chance to secure the No. 1 pick, landed ahead of the Jazz, Grizzlies and Bulls on the draft board. Washington will now have the opportunity to add a potential superstar to a roster featuring Anthony Davis and Trae Young.
“I think my love just went up even higher for D.C.,” said Wall, Washington’s lottery representative (via Monumental Sports Network’s Chase Hughes). “They love me even more now. … I think they’re in a great situation where you have a lot of options of what you want to do.”
