The New York Times is celebrating its 175th anniversary, but as an alum, I am certain many of its legendary reporters and editors during the glory days would be shocked by what has become of the Gray Lady’s standards.
As savvy Post readers remind me, each day brings fresh evidence that accuracy and fairness have been ditched at the Times in favor of activism and woke partisanship.
There are many examples but a new twist caught my eye last week. The news in the story was good, but the tone was mournful because the writers clearly expected and wanted bad news.
The gist is that the 2025 poverty rate, of 13.1 percent of the population, was unchanged from 2024. But here’s an even bigger problem for the paper: the median household income stood at $87,460–the highest ever!
The Times explained the lack of a disaster this way: Trump’s awful cuts “to the social safety net” are not fully in effect yet.
The writers were comforted by “analysts and advocates” who insisted things will be worse in the next two surveys.
Pop the champagne: More poverty and suffering are on the way, and our sources are prepared to blame Trump.
Mission accomplished.
