Three takeaways from the Giants’ 26-3 preseason win over the Dolphins on Saturday afternoon in Miami.
1. What more can you ask of a rookie kicker than what Dominic Zvada has shown this summer?
The 22-year-old made his preseason debut — Ben Sauls got the assignment in the opener — and handled everything that came his way.
He hit field goals of 43 and 32 yards and both his extra points in the first half. He also looked comfortable on kickoffs, getting the ball to the goal line. Sauls hit two field goals (27 and 37 yards) in the second half.
2. John Harbaugh has said he considers Micah McFadden a third starter at inside linebacker, along with Tremaine Edmunds and rookie Arvell Reese.
McFadden has a nose for the ball, that’s for sure. He was on the spot to recover a fumble by WR Jaylen Wright (forced by Dru Phillips) and later came away with a sack of QB Cam Miller.
It looks as if the Giants have depth at this spot.
3. Cornerback Deonte Banks did not start — Paulson Adebo and Greg Newsome II, likely the starters on Opening Day, were on the field — but he continued to make progress toward earning a spot on the roster.

On the first play of the second quarter, Banks had a strong pass breakup on Kevin Coleman Jr., using his physicality to force the incompletion.
Banks did the same in run support, tackling running back Ollie Gordon II for a 1-yard gain.
