Moriarty to get the spotlight in new Freemantle series

May 28 (UPI) — Freemantle and Archery Pictures announced Thursday that they are working together on a TV series that would focus on detective Sherlock Holmes‘ nemesis, James Moriarty.

“We are thrilled to be working with Fremantle to bring to life the original and character driven spin off from the Sherlock Holmes universe that Chris Cornwell has created,” Kris Thykier, founder of Archery Pictures, said in a statement.

Moriarty will show audiences what it takes to be a criminal genius, combining genre thrills with a playful, dark, and thrilling dive into the psychology of villainy.”

No casting or viewing platform have been announced yet.

The role of Moriarty has recently been played by Donal Finn in Young Sherlock Holmes, Randall Park in Watson, Dominic Monaghan in the Audible Original Moriarty, Andrew Scott in Sherlock and Natalie Dormer in Elementary.
